The Blacks and the Whites are good neighbors(邻居). Sometimes they have dinner together.

On Friday, Mrs. Black invited (邀请) the Whites to have dinner for her birthday at her home. In the afternoon, she came home from work early. ①On her way home, she went to the supermarket first. She bought some beef and vegetables.

When Mr. Black came back home，Mrs. Black was busy cooking. "Happy birthday!"Mr. Black said and brought her a bunch (束) of flowers. "Oh, thanks. Could you please put them in the living room first? I'm busy now. "

"OK, "said Mr. Black. "And 1 can help you put the candles on the birthday cake."

"The birthday cake?" Mrs. Black said. "Oh! ②我忘记去买它了。"

"Never mind. I'll buy it now. I'll be back in a few minutes, "Mr. Black said and ran towards the door.

At the same time the doorbell rang. They were the Whites. In their hands was a big birthday cake.

Lisa loves reading, so her mom takes her to the library to get her a card. Lisa is so happy! Lisa's favorite books are about traveling, so she always borrows(借)books about traveling.

One day, Lisa wants to return books and borrow some new ones. However, when she gets to the library, she doesn't find her card. "Oh, no!" Lisa says to the worker at the desk. "I can't find my library card. ""Oh, I can't let you take any books without your card, "says the worker. Lisa feels sad(感到伤心).

Then a boy goes to them and says, "I found a library card. Is it yours?" Lisa looks at the card and says happily, "Yes, it is mine. Thank you for finding my card. "

"You need to be careful!" says the boy.

"I will keep it in my wallet, "says Lisa.

Lisa returns her books, and then they look for books about traveling. Lis hasher books, her card, and a new friend too!

Dear Helen,

Thanks for your last letter. I'm in Bangkok on vacation with my parents. I think Bangkok is an interesting place to visit. Yesterday l visited some interesting places with them. They were great. This morning we went shopping. Bangkok is a good place to shop for jewelry(珠宝) and clothes. They are beautiful but not expensive. My mother bought a nice sweater and my father bought some T-shirts.

The weather is very hot here. Oh, yesterday it rained and was cool. But today it becomes very hot again.

The people here are very friendly. When we ate in the restaurant, the waiters were really friendly and always smiling. The food is very delicious, but it is a little hot for me. You can find some Chinese food here because lots of Chinese people came to live in Bangkok many years ago. Chinese food is very delicious and I like it very much. In Bangkok you can also find our American food, but l didn't eat it. You know, I would like new things when I'm on vacation.

Dear Li Ping，

It was great talking to you yesterday by phone.  Tomorrow we are getting on the train down to the south of the country and then a ship across to Shanghai.

Let me tell you about what we visited. I know you want to come here on vacation one day! we visited many different places and enjoyed lots of things. And the only bad thing was the weather—it rained the whole time we were there. Can you believe it?

we only stayed for one afternoon in Jiangsu because my friends really wanted to visit Disneyland which is in Shanghai.

I bought you a surprise gift here. OK. That's enough from me for now.

Last July, my 12-year-old car died on California's Santa Freeway. It was an hour before sunset, and I was 25 miles from home. I couldn't reach anyone to pick me up, so I1to take a bus. Not knowing the routes(线路), l thought I'd just go east.

A bus stopped. I got2and asked the driver how far she was going. "Ten more miles, "she said. There was3bus I could take from there. This clearly was going to be a long night.

l got off at the end of the route and she told me which bus to look4. After waiting 30 minutes, I began to think about a very expensive taxi5home. Then a bus came up. There was no lighted number above its windshield(挡风玻璃). It was out of service, but the door opened. It was the same driver.

"I just can't leave you here, "she said. "This isn't the nicest place. I will take you home."

"You will drive me home on the bus?" I asked in6. "No, I will take you in my car, "she said.

"It's a long way."

"Come on, "she said. "I have nothing 7to do.

She began telling me a story8we drove from the station in the car. A few days9, her brother had run out of gas(汽油). A kind man picked him up, took him to a service station and then back to his car. "I'm just passing the kindness along, "she said.

When I offered her money as a thank-you, she refused. "Just do10nice for somebody. Pass it along, "she said.

Saturday, June 16th

In the morning, we went camping along a path in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We hoped(希望)it was a wonderful two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes(开玩笑).

However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o'clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide in.

Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite(野营地). It was even worse(更糟糕）that our small compass (指南针) showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!

We had to make a quick decision(决定) as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide in，so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and l tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we couldn't light the fire, as everything was wet. We talked with each other and waited inside the tent. At about five o'clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up(放弃) the camping trip because all of us were very tired.

This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I learn from this trip is the importance of team spirit(团队精神).

Last Sunday the Greens went (climb) the hill. When they got

Home, it was very  (late). Mr. Green  (open) the front door and they both went into the house. Because it was too late, Mrs. Green turned on the light. Just they wanted to come into the bedroom, Mrs. Green( sudden)said," Listen, there  (be) someone in our bedroom. "They stood quietly outside the door. They could (hear) some voices(声音)in the room.

"There are two (man) in it. They are talking. "So Mr. Green began to shout. "Who is there?" no one answered. Mr. Green opened the door quickly and turned on the light. There was nobody there. Mr. Green found something and laughed.  radio was still on!" I forgot to turn it this morning, "Mr. Green said.
