Dear Dad,

    I got here after 18 hours on the train at last! It is hot here in Chongqing. I miss the cool weather in our town. Today I went to have a look at the city. I took the subway to the city center and did some shopping in a big supermarket. Things in the supermarket were expensive.

    When I walked out, I found I got lost. I was a little frightened. I asked a woman for help. She tried to tell me something, but I couldn't understand her Chongqing dialect (方言). In the end a young boy took me to the subway station. He was so kind. I have to stop here. I feel tired and I want to sleep early tonight. I will call you and Mom tomorrow night.

    Once three men got to the Dover Station at about nine o'clock that evening. One of them asked a porter (搬运工)what time the next train for London was. The porter answered, "You have just missed one. They go hourly. The next train is at ten."

    The three men decided to go off the station. So they went to a bar.

A minute or two after ten o'clock they came running into the station. The porter told them the train had just gone. So they went back to the bar. They missed the eleven o'clock train in the same way. The porter said, "Now the next train is the last one. If you miss that, you won't get to London tonight. "

    Twelve o'clock came, and the last train was starting out when all of the three men ran to catch the train as fast as they could. Two of them got into a carriage (车厢),but the third of them didn't run fast enough. The train went out and left him behind. He laughed until tears (眼泪)came out of his eyes. Then he caught hold of the porter's hands and said, "Well, I myself have to go to London, and they only come to see me off(为……送行)."

    In the summer of 2012, I took a 1to Qinhuangdao. It was excellent.

    To save 2, we went there by plane. It only3us two hours to get there. When we 4there, it was about 11 o'clock in the morning. First we took a taxi to the 5. After a short rest, we had lunch in a restaurant near the hotel. The food was 6 and delicious. We enjoyed it very much. In the afternoon, the weather was7and hot. We went to the beach (海滩). There were many people there. We lay (躺) on the beach and 8the sunshine. It was really relaxing. Well, the best thing was that I 9some new friends on the beach. That made me very happy.

    Qinhuangdao is really a good place to 10. I want to visit it again next year.

    Last Sunday, our English club had a trip to the zoo.

    The zoo is far from our club. The bus ride took us about two hours to get there. The zoo is big and beautiful. There are lots of animals in it. I took many photos of the animals. Now let me show you my photos. Look at this tiger. It is eleven years old. It was sleeping when we got there. Look! The elephants are so lovely. They're from South Africa. They're eating food.
