Dear Dad,

    I know you are busy. You have a lot to do in the army (部队), but I am hoping you can help me out anyway. I' m thinking of quitting (离开) the football team, and I want to know your advice.

    Don't be surprised. It's just that I have so much homework to do this year. If I play with the football team, I won't have enough time to finish my homework. And I'm the only man of the house while you are away, so I have more housework to do.

On the other hand, I've put in two years on the team. I love football more than any other sport in the world. I' m a really good player. And the coach says I will make captain (队长) soon. So I really don't want to quit.

    Dad, what do you think? Should I try something new that will take less time? My friends on the football team are great. We will be friends to the end, but it will be cool (妙极了) to meet some new kids, right?

    One day I went for a walk in the forest with my parents. We walked down a small road after lunch. I saw a big blue bird.

    "Look!" I called out.

    Mum and Dad didn't hear me and walked on.

    The bird was beautiful, I followed it and wanted to catch it.

    Oops! I fell over!

    The sky (天空) looked dark. "Was I asleep?" I thought. I knew I fell over just now. I looked around and saw a man wearing a big blue jacket.

    "Your mum and dad called Search and Rescue for help, because they couldn't find you," said the man.

    "What?" I was surprised to hear that.

    "You passed out (昏迷)," the man said. "And you looked injured."

    Oh, yes, my ankle (脚踝) looked big and I couldn't walk.

    "Don't worry. The ambulance (救护车) will arrive soon," said the man.

    "How did you find me?" I asked.

    "We let Goldie smell (闻) your jacket. Goldie followed your smell and found you," he said. Then I saw a big dog.

    The ambulance team found us soon. They took me to the ambulance. Goldie came with us.

    We got to the hospital quickly. Mum and Dad were waiting there. I had an X-ray (X光检查) of my ankle. Luckily, it wasn't broken, but I needed to stay in bed for days.

    Mum and Dad thanked everyone. And we thanked Goldie too!

    On 22nd March, my class went to Shuiyun Valley to plant trees. Unluckily, it (begin) to rain when we got there. The rain got heavier and heavier, so we waited in a tent (帐篷). After  (冠词) rain stopped, we started to walk up the hill.

    We took some spades and saplings (锹和幼树) with  (we). They were so heavy that we couldn't walk very fast. Finally, we arrived at the top. A farmer(teach) us how to plant trees: dig (挖掘) a hole, put a sapling in the hole and make it stand…… I couldn't wait to try, so I picked up a spade and started working.

    It wasn't such an easy job as it might look like, (连词) the spade was very heavy. It took me about 15 minutes  (finish) planting the first tree. The other ones were much  (easy) because I was becoming more and more experienced. When I finished the  (eight) one, the rain started again we kept on working in raincoats.

    Finally, we finished planting all the trees. We were very happy although we were tired and hungry then we went down the hill and back  (介词) the tent: The dinner was ready. We had chicken; eggs, cakes, etc. They were very delicious.

    After dinner, the farmer gave us some  (gift). We said thanks and went back home.

    People think earthquakes are terrible. That's 1 to understand. No one knows when an earthquake will happen. But we can do something to 2 for it. So when it happens, we can 3 ourselves.
