Canberra is capital of Australia. It is a modern and lively city with a population 403, 468.

    History Canberra is the eighth largest city in Australia. It is about 238 km from Sydney and 507 km from Melbourne. Sydney is (big) than Canberra. People in Sydney wished to make their city the capital. It was difficult for the government (make) the decision. Then the government chose a place to build the new capital. It was between Sydney Melbourne, the two largest cities. In 1927, the city was set up. It became the capital and was named Canberra. "Canberra" (mean) "a place to get together".

    Culture Canberra is a beautiful city trees and flowers everywhere. There's a Flower Festival in September each year. People can enjoy all (kind) of beautiful flowers and welcome the spring to arrive .The man-made Lake Burley Griffin is in the centre of the city. It's about 11 km long. People like to ride bikes, walk or run around the lake. In Canberra, there're many famous (university) like the Australian National University and the University of Canberra. The National library and the National Museum of Australia are also famous(place) that people like to visit.

My home town—Zhucheng

Like two different worlds

    I come from London, a very big city! Over 81people live there, and it's always busy with tourists. So moving to a little town2only 15, 000 people is a big change for me! I am living in a little town in the countryside in Germany now.

    In the countryside, the towns are 3so everyone knows each other. At home in London, I don't even know my neighbours! Another nice thing about the countryside is that it's very green and there's lots of fresh air. I like nature, and it's nice to see4the seasons change the trees. My favourite thing about living in the countryside is that I can see thousands of 5 at night. At home I can hardly see any! That's because there's 6light in the city, but here everything is dark and the stars twinkle in the sky.

    One thing I do like about living in a city is that it's7to travel. We have the subways, buses and trains, and we even have buses that run all night. Here, the last train is before 9 pm, and there's only one an hour!  Another good thing about cities is that there are lots of 8, so you can usually find what you need. In my town here there aren't many shops, 9I have to go to the nearest city!

    I always thought I was a city girl, but now I like the countryside too. They are like two different worlds, but10feel like home!

    On a small farm in Mexico, there are no schools. A bus is the school. The driver of the bus is the teacher. It's a school bus, but it doesn't take the children to school. It just goes round from place to place, and sometimes it comes to this farm. The bus will stay there for three months. The farmers call it a school on wheels(轮子) .

    Every time the bus comes, the farmers run to it, shouting and laughing. They warmly welcome the school bus.

    When the bus is on the farm, in the morning, the teacher teaches the small children. In the afternoon, the bigger children come to have their lessons because they must work in the morning. At night, the fathers and mothers come to school. They want to learn too. How the farmers hope that some day they can have a real school on their farm!
