I have just finished reading the lovely book called Daddy Long Legs written by Jean Webster.

    Judy was a girl who was always positive about life though she was an orphan(孤儿) living in a small village for 18 years. Then one day a man came and decided to send her to college, which later totally changed Judy's life. He asked Judy to write him a letter once a month to tell him what she had learned at school. But he would never reply to her letter. The different life between the village and the college made Judy fully realize the beauty of life and she cherished every moment of her life. She never asked too much about life. Her only quarrel (争吵) with life was that time ran too fast. She caught up with other classmates so quickly although she had a quite different childhood from them, which at first did cause her a lot of trouble. The story of Judy was told in the form of letters which were also written by Judy herself. When I was reading the letters, I was touched by Judy's character.

    I am wondering whether you have ever read it and I am sure that you will be deeply moved by the unexpected and romantic ending if you are a teenage girl. In a word, Daddy Long Legs is worth reading.

    Every month, Julia and her cousins would go for the big family meal at their grandparents' house. They would always wait1for the moment their grandfather would give them a few coins. People all knew that Julia loved the violin, though the family couldn't afford to pay11her to have lessons. Julia had got to know a poor violinist who played in the park.

    She said she would offer him all the coins12he taught her how to play. The violinist agreed, and he taught her happily for several13.Julia was so14that gradually she got her own violin.

    At last, she became a very famous violinist. And she would always tell people how it was 15, with just a few coins well spent, to make your dream come true.

    The story of how the song Happy Birthday to You came to be, began as a sweet one that later sourced. Two sisters, Mildred Hill, a teacher at the Louisville, Kentucky Experimental Kindergarten, and Dr. Patty Hill, the headmaster of the same school, together wrote a song for the children, called Good Morning to All. As the local expert on spiritual songs, and as the organist（风琴师） for her church, Mildred combined her musical talents with her sister's knowledge in the area of Kindergarten Education, Good Morning to All was sure to be a success.

    The sisters published the song in a collection named "Song Stories of the Kindergarten" in 1893.Thirty-one years later, after Dr. Patty Hill became the head of the Department of Kindergarten Education at Columbia University's Teacher College, a gentleman by the name of Robert H. Coleman published the song, without the sisters'permission. What was worse, he added a second verse（歌词） Happy Birthday to You.

    Mr. Coleman's addition of the second verse made the song become well known and, gradually, the sisters' original first verse disappeared. Happy Birthday to You, the one and only birthday song, had altogether replaced the sisters' original title Good Morning to All.

    After Mildred died in 1916, Patty, together with a third sister, Jessica, discussed the issue together and took Mr. Coleman to court（法庭）, they proved that they, indeed, owned the melody（曲调）. The court finally decided that the family legally（合法地） owns the song, whenever it is sung for commercial purposes（商业目的）.

    Country music developed in the Southern United States. It was the folk music of American countryside. Many of songs tell about the lives of farmers. They talk about love, crops or death. The life of the countryside can be hard, so the words in country music are often sad. At first, people played the music only at family parties.

    Why is music so important to children? Here are some of my thoughts on the subject.

    New research shows that music has a good influence on young children's cognitive（认知的） skills, such as spatial reasoning（空间推理） and memory. Research also shows that offering children an interesting environment can support children's healthy growth and development.

    Young children enjoy making music with others!

    Making music with others gives children a wonderful feeling of belonging to the group. Children might have difficulty joining in activities with others because they are shy, have limited language ability or special needs, but they can freely take part in a music activity.

    Music makes young children happy!

    Children seem to experience much pleasure and joy when listening to music, making music and dancing to music. Whether they are singing along to a CD, playing an instrument or dancing to music around the classroom, most children seem to thoroughly（彻底地） enjoy participating in a music activity. How wonderful it is to offer children the chance to do some activities about music!
