When teacher Margaret Atkins, 39, went to ride her bike to school last Friday, she was shocked to discover it (steal). When our reporter spoke to her, she told him that she'd been angry when she realized the bike was gone. It was quite old bike her grandpa had given her years ago. She said it was the (valuable) gift she'd ever received.

So what did she do? She decided (write) a note to the thief and put it where the bike had been taken away. To her surprise, she (find) the thief had returned the bike, together with a written apology (道歉) later that day." What I did was (complete) wrong. I'm really sorry took your bike. Hope you can accept (I) apology!"

Mrs. Atkins told reporters she was not going to call the police she was no longer angry. She was just thankful that she could go to the school on her bike again. She added that she'd probably write another passage to the thief. "I want to thank him returning the bike and tell him I've forgiven (原谅) him," she explained. " People sometimes make (mistake), but the important thing is that they own up to (承认) what they've done," she said.

There is no way that you don't have any embarrassing moments. You can't control everything that happens, so you're going to be in an embarrassing situation one day. So how can you solve this problem? The answer is to control your actions and try not to get upset.

◆Remember that you'll probably laugh about it in a few days, so try to see the funny side of it.

◆lf it is something so embarrassing that you feel you will never laugh about it, please remember that the (1)________ will be over after some time.

◆Ask your friends to give you a break and not to make fun of you. If you've done the same for them, they're more likely to agree to give you a break.

Always remember that you are not alone. Everyone has embarrassing moments. While you are sure that everyone is going to remember this moment forever, the fact is that they'll probably forget it very soon. Most of us remember the moments in which we feel embarrassed, but very few of us remember other people's embarrassing moments.

Most people have short memories. So while you may never forget the moment when your skirt was torn (撕裂) in a gym class, most of the other people probably forget it at once. Although a short memory may not be a (n) (2) _______ thing when you are trying to remember facts in a history test, it is useful when you are trying to forget life's most embarrassing moments.

April Fools' Day is supposed to be a day to play jokes on others in hopes of getting a good laugh and making one feel like a fool. However, the April Fools' Day of 2010 was quite different for my mom and me.

That day my friend Jimmy and I were playing a game. I had dropped

down from a bar(横木) many times in the past without ever having a problem, but that day the simple act of dropping to the ground became a nightmare(噩梦). I broke my arm.

Jimmy's dad heard my crying and rushed out to see what was going on. When he saw the problem, he quickly put me into his truck and went inside to call my mom and let her know he would take me to the hospital.

As that day was April Fools' Day, mom was not buying it and really thought all this was a big joke. Mom was finally convinced by Jimmy's mom. When she saw me, she broke down in tears because she felt so bad- she originally(开始) thought this was just a big prank(恶作剧)。

I guess one could compare this to the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". Since I had pulled pranks before, it is no wonder that my mom didn't believe it. I as well as my mom was made to look like a fool that day. We both learned a valuable lesson.

What happened to the writer on the April Fools' Day of 2010?
Why did Jimmy's dad call the writer's mom?
What does the underlined sentence "mom was not buying it" mean?
Why did the writer mention the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"?
From the passage we can infer that _______.
