How to make yourself happy

As we know, life is not a bed of roses. Then how to make yourself happy when you have troubles?

As usual, Amber was hurrying to catch the yellow school bus. Luckily the traffic lights turned green as she was to cross the road, so she made it. When the bus passed the golden arches(拱形门)of McDonald's, they reminded her of a hamburger. She hadn't had breakfast that morning because the fruit salad on the blue dish didn't look delicious at all. However, Amber remembered that she was still on a diet. So now she was really in a black mood.

You may have noticed that several colors were used in the above story so as to help describe Amber's morning. In fact, colors influence your life more than you can ever imagine. Take language for example: You may describe a sick person as being" a bit green". To describe a depressed(沮丧的) person, you say that the person is " feeling blue". In short, colors do add interest to daily conversations.

Besides, colors can be used in many parts of your daily life. Have you ever thought about why many school buses and taxis are painted yellow, and stop signs red? Since yellow is the most eye-catching color, it can catch people's attention, especially in heavy traffic. As for red, it is the color which usually shows warning; as a result, some traffic signs use this color. For the same reason, hot-water taps are usually marked red.

The colors of a dining environment possibly decide how much you eat. Most fast-food restaurants are often decorated in bright colors such as red, yellow, orange, and white for the purpose of increasing people's appetites (胃口). This is because bright colors are natural colors found in many foods, and, therefore, able to raise people's spirits. Blue, in comparison with bright colors, is said to lower people's appetites because few foods are blue in nature. For those who are on a diet, blue dishes and bowls might help!

"Morning, Amber! What happened? You look a bit green," said Violet, Amber's best friend.

"Nothing... just feeling... blue, " said Amber.

"Hey! Come to my place tonight. Do you know what I just bought? A wii! It's red-hot. "

Amber was tickled pink to have the chance to play with the wii and said, "Sounds great!"

Once upon a time, there lived a king. He had much money and power, but he was neither happy nor satisfied. One day, he saw a servant who was singing happily while he worked. He was so curious that he asked the servant, ""

The man replied, "Your Majesty, my family and I don't need too much, just a roof(屋顶)over our heads and warm food to fill our stomachs. "The king was not satisfied with that reply.  The advisor said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club."

"The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the king asked. The advisor replied," Your Majesty, to truly know what The99Club is, place 99 gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's doorstep. "So the king ordered a man to do it. When the servant saw the bag with gold coins, he let out a great shout of joy," So many gold coins!" He began to count.  He wondered, "Where was the last gold coin?"

He searched every corner he could, but that final coin was not seen. Finally, he decided that he was going to work harder than ever to get that gold coin. From that day, the servant's life was changed. He was overworked, and castigated (严厉批评) his family for not helping him make that 100th gold coin. Seeing the servant's change, the king was puzzled and asked his advisor again. The advisor said," Your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club."

He continued, " we can be happy, even with very little in our lives, but the minute we're given something bigger and better, we want even more! We lose our sleep, our happiness, and even we hurt the people around us, all these as a price for our growing needs and desires (欲望). So we must learn to keep a balance between our needs and desires to enjoy a happy life with what we already have."

Lots of junior high school students enjoy sports. My classmates and I had a lot of fun at our school's annual(一年一度的) sports meeting last week.

It was pretty special for me I took part in the 800-meter race for the first time. Though I ran hard every day, I was still anxious on the day of the meeting.

As we lined up, my arms (shake) and my heart was pounding(怦怦地跳) quickly. Facing the endless runway, I felt like a boat facing the wind and rain. I reminded (I) that simply participating(参与) is a victory itself. I started to calm down(冷静).

Just then, the starting gun went off and all the runners (rush) out like tigers running down a hill. It wasn't until I finished the first lap (一圈) that I realized that Td run so fast I'd used up almost all my energy. But I had to keep running for the last 100 meters. Blue veins (stand) out in my forehead and I felt like I couldn't breathe. Looking at the runners in front of me, as they got closer to the finishing line, I really wanted (stop) running and sit down. I reminded myself that perseverance(毅力) is a victory itself and it filled me strength again. With my remaining strength, I desperately(拼命地) ran to the end of the track.

I ended up (come) in seventh place. This might have been a minor(微小的) achievement to other people, but it made me feel happy and (excite). I pushed myself to my limit.

I'd TV go climbing.

Anger(愤怒) often makes us uncomfortable. Seeing your child's anger can be especially uncomfortable. In order to relieve(缓解) this feeling, parents often encourage children to " stop crying" and say things like" It's nothing to cry about. "It's moments like those that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger. The "stop crying" parents are just doing what they were taught by their own parents, who were probably taught by their parents on and on. However, we should learn how to create healthy anger at our kids.

If a child never sees his or her parents express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if parents always express their anger loudly, their child may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening.

The first thing you can do to create healthy anger at your children is to practice creating healthy anger at yourself. Once you're better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way, you'll be able to set a good example for your kids.

Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong. You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong. When children express their feelings and are told that it's nothing to cry about, they come to know that they themselves are bad.

We need to raise them in an environment where it's safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling. When your kids express anger, help them examine what it is that has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then, you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of feelings are in our control.

Anger is natural and normal, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.
