1. Grain Rain falls between the end of spring and the beginning of summer, and the temperature rises much higher than it does in March. With dry soil and heavy winds, sandstorms may happen more often.

2. There is an old custom in southern China that people drink tea on the day of Grain Rain. Spring tea during Grain Rain is good for the eyes. It is also said that drinking tea on this day would prevent bad luck.

3. People in northern China have the tradition to eat the vegetable toona sinensis during Grain Rain. An old Chinese saying goes" toona sinensis before the rain is as tender as silk". The vegetable is good for the stomach and skin.

4. The Grain Rain Festival is celebrated by fishing villages in northern China. Grain Rain marks the start of the fishermen's first voyage of the year. The custom dates back to more than2, 000 years ago.

Weeks before Tomb-Sweeping Day on April 4 this year, hundreds of qingtuan were sold each day. The snack was still a must-have for many people.

In the southern part of China, eating qingluan at the beginning of spring is a kind of tradtion. Chinese people started to eat it more than 2, 000 years ago. it is made of sticky rice(糯米) and red bean paste (红豆沙), and is famous for its softness, freshness and sweetness. The secret behind its mouth-watering taste is one of its materials-mugwort leaves(艾蒿叶). The plant is mainly found in the yangize River Delta(长江三角洲) where it has perfect conditions to grow.

People in this area usually put qingtuan on the tombs(墓)of their dead family members to cherish the past memory. Making qingtuan is also a chance for family members to get together at home. It really takes time and effort to make the snack.

Now, qingtuan has already spread its special taste to the northern part of China. Li Yuan, a 30-year-old engineer who grew up in Zhejiang Province, brought qingtuan back to Beijing where he works." It tastes different in and out or my hometown," he said. "There's no place like home."

Qingtuan has many different tastes inside it, such as apples and bean milk, to meet customers' tastes. The difference of the taste shows that it's getting more and more popular across the whole country.

Even though there is warm weather and green leaves in spring, the season wouldn't be complete without a taste of qingtuan.

What are the basic ingredients(要素)of good manners? A strong sense of fairness is one of them.

A friend once told me an experience that he had. When he was driving along a one-lane(单行小路), unpaved(未铺路的)mountain road, the car ahead of his produced clouds of choking dust (呛人的尘土), and it was a long way to the nearest paved main road. Suddenly, the car thought there must be something wrong with the car ahead. He stopped and asked if anything was wrong. "No" said the other driver. "But you've endured my dust so far. I'll endure yours the rest of the way. "

Another ingredient is empathy (同情心). It makes a person see into the mind or heart of someone else. Recently l happened to read such a story in a book.

Then the waiter closed it again and turned back. He pretended (假装) to make a great effort to open the bottle without success. Finally he took it into the kitchen and returned very soon.
