— No, he didn't．he isn't strong enough even ______ it.

          It was the end of my junior year，the weekend before a party．I was1around that night with some friends，and a2got passed around the car．Everyone was taking swigs(大口喝)．Then the bottle got to me．I took a swig．That was the biggest3of my life，I had to drive4 later that night.

         About a mile from my house，a policeman turned his light bar on and I5over and waited for him to come to my door.“Can I see your6and registration please，Miss？”He took them and went back to his car for a while．When he returned，he asked if I had7

         “Yes sir，”I said．He asked me to step out of my car.

         All of a sudden I felt cold metal on my wrists.He8 me right then and there.As I was sitting in the back seat of his car，all I could think was，“God，I'm in so much9my parents are going to10me.”

         The cop drove me to a town twenty minutes from my home．Being arrested was so11.The next week I got a lawyer and I went to12two months after that．I got $ 700 in fines，forty hours of community13 ， and had to attend a MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) meeting．I'll be on probation(缓刑)for a year，and I have to14driver's  education again．And I 15my license for a whole year!

          This has been a huge 16 experience for me．It opened my eyes to how17 it is to make a 18decision.I want everyone reading this to know that it's not19 to drink and drive，and it20isn't worth losing your license．

          Farah was sitting in the kitchen going over the party list with her mother.The exams were over and Farah wanted to invite her friends for a party.

“Farah，aren’t you going to invite Hafsa？”her mother asked.Hafsa had been her best friend since childhood.

          “Mother，you know I am now a part of Purple Girls Club and we have some rules about people we can be friends with，”Farah answered.

          “Really？And what are the rules？”her mother asked.

          “Well，only very pretty girls can be part of our group.And Hafsa is so...you know...dark.”

          “I cannot believe it，”her mother said angrily．

          As Farah left the kitchen，her father called  her from the living room.

          Farah went to her father and paled when she saw the exam report in his hands.“Farah，what has happened to your grades？You have failed in Mathematics，”her father said.

          Farah had no answer.The truth was that the activities of Purple Girls Club left her with very little time for studies.

          “Farah，it says that you can take part in supplementary exams(补考).If your grades don’t improve then，I’ll cancel(取消) your trip to Spain.”

Farah went to her room and called Gina，the leader of Purple Girls Club， “Gina，can you help me to complete my notes before the exams？”

Gina laughed.“Exams？Who cares about exams？”

          One by one，she called her friends in the club but no one seemed to care or wanted to help.

          Farah knew Hafsa would help her.Farah also knew Hafsa had been hurt by her，but Hafsa said，“If you need any help，just let me know.We can study together till your exams.”

          Next Monday，as two friends entered the school together，Gina called out.

          “Farah，you know our rules.You cannot be friends with those who do not belong to our club.”

          “Gina，I have a new rule about friendship，”Farah replied.

Home on the Way

    People need homes: children1their parents' place as home2call school "home" on weekdays; named couples work together to build new homes; and travelers... have no place to call “home",3for a few nights. So how about people who have to travel for4periods of time? Don't they have the right to a home? Of course they do.

    Some regular travelers take their own 5: like bed sheets, pillowcases and family photos to make them feel like home 6they are; some stay for long periods in the same hotel and7become very familiar with service and attendants; others may 8put some flowers by the hotel window to make things more homely.9 ,driving a camping car during one's travels and sleeping in the vehicle at night is just like home only10!

    And how about maintaining relationships while in 11?Some keep 12 with their friends via internet; some send letters and postcards, or even photos; others may just call and say hi, just to let their friends know that they' re still13and well. People find ways to keep in touch. Making friends on the way helps travelers feel 14 at home. Backpackers in youth hostels may become very good friends,   15closer than siblings（兄弟姐妹）.

    Nowadays,16people are working in their local towns, so how do they develop a 17of belonging? Whenever we18our local boundaries, there is always another “home” waiting  19.Wherever we are, with just a little bit of effort and20, we can make the place we stay “home”.
