The next two days, there was still no power(电). They made sand(沙子) houses and picked seashells(贝壳). That night they made a campfire and cooked dinner. The second day the children worked all day and did an interesting play.

Mom and Dad were very excited.

"Well done!" said Dad. "Now I have a surprise. I just wanted you to enjoy this vacation without(没有) TV or video games.

Thursday, April 24th

We got to the clean, lovely city- Yangzhou early in the morning. This is our first trip to China. We tried some delicious food for dinner in the evening. The hotel we are staying in is not expensive and it is very clean. We plan to stay here for a few days, visit some places of interest in the city, and then travel to the Great Wall in the north.

Sunday, April 27th

We visited the famous Slender West Lake(瘦西湖) which was crowded with visitors from all over the world, and bought a lot of toys for our friends outside the gate of the park. Everything was so colorful, and we took hundreds of photos already! Later today we will do the famous foot massage (按摩) and then leave Yangzhou for Beijing. We will take the night train north, stay in Beijing for two days and then catch a bus to the Great Wall.

Wednesday, April 30th

Our trip to the Great Wall was long and boring. We visited a small village in the mountains. People in the village love the quiet life. They are the kindest people I have ever met. They always smile and say," Hello." Ralph and I can speak only a few words in Chinese, so smiling is the way to show our kindness.

Monday, July 15th

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot.我们决定去旅馆附近的沙滩。My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so exciting. For lunch, we had something very special-Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious. In the afternoon, we rode bicycles to George town. There are a lot of buildings now, but many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in George town, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was like here in the past. I really enjoyed ① _______ (walk) around the town.

Tuesday, July 16^th

What a ②_______ a day makes! My father and I went to Penang Hill today. We wanted to walk up to the top, but then it started raining a little so we decided to take the train.我们等了一个多小时的火车，因为有太多的人了。When we got to the top, it was raining really hard. We didn't have an umbrella so we were wet and cold. It was terrible! And because of the bad weather, we couldn't see anything below. My father didn't bring enough money, so we only had one bowl of rice and some fish. The food tasted great because I was so hungry!
