    It's Jim's birthday today. He is five years old. He gets many nice birthday presents(礼物) from his family and one of them is a big drum(鼓).

    "Who gives him the drum?" his father asks.

    "His grandfather does," answers Jim's mother.

    Jim likes his drum very much. He makes a noise (噪音) with it, but his mother doesn't say anything about it. His father is not at home. He is working in a school. So he doesn't hear the noise.

    But one of the neighbors(邻居) doesn't like the noise at all. So one morning she takes a knife and goes into Jim's room. Jim is playing the drums. She says to him," Hello, Jim. Do you know there is anything nice in your drum? Here's a knife. Open the drum and let's find it."

    Mr. King goes to a dinner party. He is wearing old clothes. He comes into the room. But people in the room don't look at him. They don't ask him to sit at the table.

    Mr. King goes home and puts on his good clothes. He goes back to the party. Everyone in the room stands up and smiles at him. They give him very good food to eat.

    Mr. King takes off his coat, puts the food on it and says, "Eat, coat!

    One person asks, "What are you doing?" He answers, "I'm asking my coat to eat food. When I am wearing my old clothes, you don't look at me or ask me to sit down. Now I'm in these clothes. And you give me very good food. Now I see. You give the food to my clothes, not to me!"
