    Saving the environment is actually quite simple, when you come to think about it. It does not have to be a problem. If you and everyone follow these tips, you are helping save the environment easily.

    Some students might be studying almost all the time but they just scrape through (勉强通过) their exams, while others may spend less time on their books but do much better in exams. How could this happen? This just shows the difference between hard work and smart work.

    Hard workers don't mind working for long hours, while smart workers always think of different answers to questions, such as "Isn't there a better way to do this?" Progress is the direct result of the "search for a better way" by smart workers.

    There was a large soap (肥皂) factory in Japan. Once it received a complaint from a customer. There was no soap in the soap box he bought. How could empty soap boxes go out of the factory? The engineers reviewed the packing process (过程). Then they fitted a huge X-ray machine which was connected to two large computers to find out which soap boxes were empty.

    "Sir, we could have solved the problem in a much simpler and cheaper way," a worker said. "We can put a huge fan near the packing machine. The fan will blow away the empty boxes. There would be no need for an X-ray machine, two computers, or workers."

    This is smart work. We can work hard like the engineers; we can also think like this smart worker.
