On Mondays, the Farmer's Market is open for business. The Farmer's Market is also open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It's closed on weekends.

    A Farmer's Market is different from a supermarket and a grocery store. The farmers who live outside the city bring their farm products to this special market. They pack their corn, tomatoes, lettuce, chicken and fruit in trucks very early in the morning. Then they drive to the city. The farmers don't advertise (宣传) much. They know that customers (顾客) will come. Everybody likes fresh food! The market is usually very crowded between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m.

    The prices of vegetables are reasonable at the Farmer's Market. Many people save money by shopping there. Also, some people know many of the farmers and talk to them about planting and growing food. Farmers' work is so hard and every day they spend long hours working on the farm, but they don't care. They like their farms and enjoy working on the farm.

    Joe wanted a computer. He asked his parents for money and they said he must get it himself. But how did he get it? He 1 about this when he walked home. Not many people wanted to ask children to work for them. Maybe he could take away snow for his neighbours. But it was not winter. He had to wait a long time for that. He couldn't cut the grass for their gardens 2 he had no tools to do the work with.

    Then he saw one of his classmates, Dick, delivering (送) the newspaper. "I could do that," he thought. "Maybe I could even get the computer right away (马上). I could pay 3 it a little each week." He ran to catch up with Dick. Joe asked Dick a lot of questions. He learned that it was possible to get twenty-five dollars each week. He learned that the job took 4 three hours each night. Dick 5 him the phone number of the newspaper manager.

    Joe almost flew home. After he had told his mother what he thought, she smiled. "I think it is a 6 idea," she said, "I'll call the newspaper..."

    "Wait, Mum," Joe said, "I'll call. After that, I'm going to be a businessman."

Joe's mother smiled happily.

    We moved into our new house on a warm September day. It was not1a new house. It was a hundred and four years old, but it was new to us. The house had running water, gas and electricity, but for2reason there was no electric light in the kitchen. We had not3this shortage (不足) when we first looked over the house. It was something we didn't expect (预料): a house with electricity, but4a kitchen light. It was even terrible because our kitchen was a large room, perhaps the largest in the house. I telephoned an electrician. He came and5it for us. And he asked $85 for his work.
