    One of my best friends, Bob, has a very large police dog named Jack. Every Sunday afternoon, Bob and Jack have a walk in the park nearby. Jack likes these walks very much.

    One Sunday afternoon, I paid a visit to my friend. I stayed there fora time and my friend and I had a longer talk with each other than ever before. Soon it was time for them to take a walk in the park. We  that, so Jack became worried about it. He walked around the room several times and then sat down in front of me and looked at me.

    But I still paid  attention(注意) to him. I went on talking with my friend.  Jack could not wait any longer. He went out of the room and came back a few minutes later. He sat down in front of me again. But this time, he held my hat in his  . Soon I understood what Jack meant and so did my friend.

    Once there was a baby eagle living in a nest(巢) on a cliff(山崖). The baby eagle loved his nest. It was warm and soft. And even better, he had all the food and love that his mother could give. Whenever the baby eagle was h his mother would always come just in time with the delicious food he liked.

    He was growing h day after day. But suddenly his world changed. His mother stopped coming to the nest. He was full of sadness and fear. He thought he would die soon. He cried loudly, but nobody h him.

    Two days later his mother appeared(出现) with some nice food. The baby eagle was wild with joy. But his mother put it at the top of the mountain and then looked down at her baby. The baby eagle cried out. "Mum, why did you do this to me? I'm hungry. Don't you know I will die if I have nto eat?"

    "Here is the last meal I give you, Come and get it y. I can't help you." His mother said. Then she flew down and pushed the baby eagle out of the nest.

    The baby eagle fell down faster and faster. He looked up at his mum, "Why do you give me up?" He looked down at the earth. The ground was much c. Then suddenly something strange happened. The air caught behind his arms and he began to fly! He wasn't moving to the ground any more. I, his eyes were pointed up at the Sun.

    "You are flying! You can make it!" His mother smiled.

    On Nov. 18, 1908, three men went up in a balloon. They started early in London. The headman was Augusta Gaudron, and the other two men were Tannar and Maitland. They had a big balloon and they were ready for a long way.

    Soon they heard the sea. They carried a usual rope, and it was hanging down from the basket of the balloon. At the end of the rope they had tied(系) a metal box. This could hold water, or it could be empty. So they were able to change its weight. It was for use over the sea. They also carried some bags of sand.

    After the Sun rose, the balloon went higher. It went up to 3,000 metres, and the air was very cold. The water in the box became ice. Snow fell past the men's basket, and they could see more snow on the ground. The men tried to throw out some more sand; but it was hard. They tried to break the icy sand with their knives, but it was not easy. The work was slow and they were still falling, so they had to drop(投下) some whole bags of sand.

    One of them fell on an icy lake and made a black hole in the ice.

At last they pulled the box into the basket. They rose to 5, 100 metres! Everything became icy. They were so cold that they decided to land. They came down in Poland safely. They had travelled 1,797 kilometres from London!
