—That's true. I've been considering about that for weeks.

    Two months ago, my family moved to Planet Zox. There are species (物种) from many different planets on Planet Zox. In fact, I liked my new planet until it was time to start school.

    "I'm worried," I told my parents that first morning. "Nobody there will be like me."

    "They don't have to be like you to be friends with you," Mum said.

    Once I got to school. I kept an eye out for other humans. I found a few in the halls, but I was the only one in my class. Nobody talked to me all morning. At lunch. I found that all the other humans were eating with other species. I found only one table with empty chairs. There, alone, sat one of my classmates, Hululialana. She had many tentacles (触手). I spoke to her with great care, "Hello, Hululialana."

    Slowly, one of her tentacles pulled a chair closer to me.

    I sat down. "Thank you," I said. We looked at each other, then away.

    "How's your first day going?" I quickly asked.

    "I wish I were still at my old school," she said.

    "I miss my old school too," I said.

    "At least you're not the only human. But I'm the only Hulu."

    I thought for a minute and said, "That makes you special."

    "That makes me a freak (怪人)," she said.

    "Well, let's be freaks together."

    Then, for the first time, Hululialana smiled. After that day, school on Planet Zox began to be pretty fun.

    H. G. Wells lived from 1866 to 1946. He wrote many famous stories. He was best at writing stories about the future. One story is called The Time Machine. Here is the story.

    More than 100 years ago, there was an English scientist and inventor living in London. One day, four friends went to his house for dinner. The inventor was not there. Feeling hungry, they started dinner without him. Then they heard a sound. A few moments later, the inventor came in, looking dirty.

    He told his friends that he built a time machine. He could travel into the future.

    The inventor went thousands of years in the future. He met people called the Eloi. They were smaller than him. They had no machines. Growing fruit and vegetables was all that they did. They had no hobbies. Only one girl, Weena, spoke to him.

    Four days later, he met other people called Morlocks. They lived underground. They caught Eloi people and ate them! The inventor wanted to fight against the Morlocks. The Eloi didn't want to help him, not even the strong men. He tried to fight against the Morlocks. At last, Weena went underground with him. Unfortunately, Weena died.

    After that, he got in his time machine. He came back to his time. Seeing the future made him sad. The people in the future were worse. They were not clever.

    His friends didn't think it was a real story. But they never saw him again. Maybe he went to save the future.

    Mr and Mrs Jackson lived in a round house. In fact, every room in the house was round. Some people thought this was 1, but Mr and Mrs Jackson liked their home.

    Many people in their town wanted to 2 the house. So Mr Jackson decided to hold a party to let everyone see it. But 3, just before the party, Mr Jackson was killed.

    Mrs Jackson had just returned home from work when she saw what had happened. Her husband had been murdered (谋杀) in their bedroom. She called the police to come and investigate (调查).

    When they questioned the cook, he said that he had been busy 6 a meal for the party when Mr Jackson was murdered. The police saw that the 7 was dirty and that food had been ready, so they believed he was telling the truth.

    Next, they questioned the gardener. The gardener said he had been 8 when the murder happened. The police saw that the gardener's shoes were dirty. So again, they 9 him.

    Finally, they asked the maid. It was her first day at work. She said she had been 10 the corners of the house at that time because there was much dust. The police knew she told a lie.

    So the police said to Mrs Jackson, "We think we know who killed your husband."
