Today many Chinese people want to improve their English in different ways. Twenty-four young singers from all over China  (enter)a competition by singing popular English songs. Nearly all the singers sang very clearly and looked  (comfort) on stage. Although some of them took part in the competition for the first time, they were able  (sing) English songs just as well as native speakers.

    The winner of the  (men) competition was a 40—year—old man from Xi'an and the winner of the women's competition was a 19—year— old girl from Dalian. Both of  (they) were very modest and they didn't think they were better  the other singers. Jiangmei, the winner of the women's competition said studying English helped her win the prize and she would have to study hard.

    This kind of competition encourages people to speak English. Many people agree that they make progress by singing English songs and that it's  good idea to have fun with English.

    Develop a good attitude(态度) towards tests the purpose(目的) of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. It helps you know what you are not good at. The world will still goon even if you fail a test, so don't be too worried.
