All Parents love their children. Many parents want their kids to 1 well-known people when they 2. Most of them want their kids to live better than others. Many of them 3 their kids will be singers or actors. Actors and singers can 4 money easily in our country. When they appear in the advertisement, they will  get 5 money which a farmer or a worker can't make all his life.

    Some of the parents want their kids to be businessmen 6 doctors. If they work hard, they will have cars and big houses in several 7. Some parents want their kids to work in cities and towns. They don't  8 them to work in the countryside. People who work in the cities and towns can get money after they  9. If you are a famous man, especially an actor,  you'll get much but pay a little. A farmer is 10 --he gets little but pays much.

     The police in London were searching for a thief. At last they caught him. But while they were taking photos of him from the front, from the left to the right, with a hat and without a hat, he suddenly hit the policemen and ran off. The police try to catch him but he got away.

    Then a week later, a telephone rang in the police station and somebody said, "You are searching for a thief, aren't you?" "Yes." "Well, he left here for Waterbridge an hour ago." The police in London at once sent four different photos of the thief to the police in Waterbridge.

    About ten hours later, the police in London got a telephone call from Waterbridge. "We have caught three of the man," they said happily, "and we'll catch the fourth this evening, we think."

     This is a song millions of Americans will hear this New Year's Eve. It is called Auld Lang Syne(《友谊地久天长》). It is the traditional music played during the New Year's celebration. Auld Lang Syne is an old Scottish poem. It tells about the need to remember old friends.

      The words “Auld Lang Syne” mean “old long since”. No one knows who wrote the poem first. However, a version by Scottish poet Robert Burns was published(出版)in 1796. The words and music we know today first appeared in a song book three years later.
