Jill was on her way to the hospital with
her mother, because the dentist found a hole (洞) in
one of Jill's teeth last week.
As they arrived and parked the car, Jill
asked, "Mom, why do we have to repair the hole? It doesn't hurt."
"If we don't repair it, it'll make you
hurt," said her mother. "Come on. Let's go."
They went into the dentist's office. A
woman walked to Jill.
"Hi, Jill. I'm Jane. I'll help Dr.
Hicks repair your hole today," said the woman. "Are you OK?"
"Yes, just a little afraid," said
Jill.
"It'll be fine, Jill," said Jane.
"Dr. Hicks is a very good dentist."
Just then Dr. Hicks came into the room. She
looked over Jill's hole. When she got prepared, she sat down next to Jill.
"Jill, there's a hole in one of your
teeth," said Dr. Hicks. "We'll repair the hole with something, but it's
a little bitter (苦的)."
"I know," said Jill. "But
why don't we repair it with candy?"
