The mobile phone has become a problem for middle schools. Some middle schools in Australia have banned students from carrying phones during school hours.

The use of mobile phones among children has become a problem for the school this year. Several children have got mobile phones as Christmas gifts, and more students want them. Mary Bluett, an official, said the use of mobile phones is a distraction to students during school hours and it also gives teachers so much trouble in their classrooms. Teachers said that sometimes students might use phone messages to cheat during exams.

She said some schools had tried to ban mobile phones. Some parents felt unhappy because they couldn't get in touch with their children.

Many teachers said students should not have mobile phones at school, but if there was a good reason, they could leave their phones at the school office. They also said there were many reasons why the students should not have mobile phones at school: they were easy to lose and were a distraction to students.

Many people say they understand why parents would want their children to have phones, but they think schools should let the students know when they can use their mobile phones.

Some middle schools in Australia have banned students from carrying mobile phones ______________________.

join    instead    instead of    need    fix    activity

    Dear Ms White,

I used to have a lot of problems and I always tried them. I used. to do badly in English. To fix it, I read English newspapers and went to the school English corner to improve it. Now I'm quite good at it. I used to be weak. To fix it, I ate right and a sports club. Now I'm strong and healthy. I used to be afraid of speaking in public. To fix it, I took part in all kinds of school Now I'm outgoing and everyone likes making friends with me. But now I have a problem that I can't fix. I have the ugliest nose in the whole world! It's not only fat but also big! I want to have a nose job (鼻子整形), but how can I get my parents to agree?

    Yours,

    Ann

    Dear Ann,

It sounds like you're a really proactive (积极主动的) person, always fixing problems. That's good, but when it comes to things like your nose. you have to stop. It sounds to me that you're looking for things that are wrong with your body. That's very dangerous. Also, I'd like to point out that nobody is perfect. A nose doesn't reflect who you are, so there's no for you to feel bad about yourself at all.

In my opinion, as a student, you should pay more attention to your schoolwork your looks.

    Best wishes,

    Ms White

    Jessica Letter 1

Whatever I do, I always think about if other people will like it. How can I stop worrying about what they think?

    Erica Letter 2

My dream is to be in the Olympic team for gymnastics. My dad thinks I started too late and I'll never be able to make it. He puts me down, but I want his support. What should I do?

    Ashley Letter 3

What should I do if I fail a test? I'm afraid to tell my mum because she might get mad at me and I can't play football. And football is like the world to me.

    Eva Letter 4

I just moved and I'm kind of shy, so how do I make new friends?

    Dr Molly's answer ①

You should tell him about your dream and that if you work really hard, it might happen even though you started late. The sooner you tell your dad how you feel, the sooner you'll be able to work on making your dream come true.

    Dr Molly's answer ②

Nobody knows you at your new school. You have nothing to lose, so gather up all your courage and go to someone who looks friendly and introduce yourself. You can ask that person about your teacher or the other kids in your class to break the ice. Good luck!

    Dr Molly's answer ③

It's better to tell your mum the truth than for her to find out another way. When you tell her, explain why you failed the test. Ask her if she can help you study in the future, so you'll do better in your tests and also have time for the football you love.

    Dr Molly's answer ④

Just be yourself and try not to care about what others think. The more you think about it, the worse you will feel. Always act strong and confident. Even if you are a little unsure of something, don't doubt (怀疑) your abilities to do things right. Just relax.
