    My hobby is reading. I read storybooks, magazines, newspapers and many kinds of material that I find 1.

    This hobby 2 when I was a little boy. I always 3 my parents to read stories to me. Soon they got tired of reading to me. So as soon as I could, I learned to 4. I started with some simple ABC books. Soon I could read some simple stories. Now I read about 5 that I can get.

    Reading makes 6 learn about many things. I learned about how people lived in the past. I learned about the space travel, big 7 like whales, and many other things in our world.

    The wonderful thing about reading is that I do not have to learn things the 8 way. For example, I do not have to go into the 9 to learn about wild (野生的) tigers. I can read all about them in a book.

    Books provide readers with a lot of  10 and facts. They have certainly helped me in my daily life.

    Mum told me an American myth (神话) about people's first tears (眼泪). Let me tell you about it.

    Once upon a time, an Inuit man went hunting (捕猎) along the water for seals on the seashore. He would certainly bring home a great meal for his wife and son. He went quietly towards the seals. Suddenly, the seals began to move into the water. He was disappointed. His meal was getting away.

    Then he saw that a seal was not moving as quickly as the others. The man went towards the last seal. It did not see him, but it moved into the water, too. The man stopped to sit down. He had a strange feeling. He felt water begin to fall from his eyes. He touched his eyes and tasted the drops. Yes, they tasted salty. Strange loud sounds were coming from his mouth and chest (胸膛).   His wife and son heard that and ran to him.   The man told them about the seals. He told how every seal ran away from him. As he spoke, water began to fall from the eyes of his wife and his son, and they cried with him. In this way, people first learned to cry.
