        Have you ever seen a robin (知更鸟)? Robins have dark heads and red chests.

        A good place to see robins is in your own backyard. Robins don't mind being around people. You may also see robins on lawns (草坪) or in parks. They are looking for worms and bugs to eat.

         Early in spring, robins build their nests (巢). They build them in trees. Robins hide the nests in trees so that they will be safe.

         The nests are made from grass, sticks, and mud. The mud makes everything together. The mother robin lays (产蛋) one egg a day for three or four days. She sits on them to keep them warm. The eggs are blue. After the babies come out, both the mother and father feed the babies. The young birds have spots on their chests.

          Do any robins live near you? Look around. You may be surprised!

    Some visitors to new places take pictures of animals, but other visitors hunt (打猎) and kill them. They do not kill animals for food, but because they like hunting. In many countries people can make a lot of money from animals.

    Elephants die because people want ivory. Rhinoceros (犀牛) die because people want to buy their horns.

    Pollution (污染) of our land, sea, rivers and sky is getting worse and worse. We are making our world a much dirtier place, so many animals cannot live in it. Pollution is bad for all of us. It's killing animals. Sooner or later it is going to kill people too. We put new buildings on empty land and don't think about animals. We make new roads, move rivers and cut down trees. So we are taking the natural homes of animals very fast. Where can they go? In the end, the answer is often nowhere and the animals die. Animals are in danger from natural accidents. Some animals die because the weather changes and some animals are also in danger from our behaviour (行为). We can not protect animals or people from accidents or changing the weather, but we can think about our behaviour and change that!
