We all know people call Taiwan the Treasure Island of China. It is very beautiful. Recently we have been closely connected.

    Several months ago, a group of 19 Taiwanese children flew to Chengdu in order to begin a tour to study pandas. The middle school children were from Chiayi County in southwest Taiwan and were chosen because of their excellent performances at school.

    During the visit, the children saw pandas up close. They were very excited to see so many pandas at the same time. The children also traveled to the Mount Emei scenic area and met local schoolchildren.

    At last, they said, "The pandas are very cute, and we are all happy." They also said the children in Chengdu were very friendly to them, and they all liked there. They hoped to visit Sichuan again.

—We must do something to stop people from hunting and selling these animals.

    Have you ever seen a robin(知更鸟)? Robins have dark heads and red chests.

    A good place to see robins is in your own backyard. Robins don't mind being around people. You may also see robins on lawns(草坪) or in parks. They are looking for worms and bugs to eat.

    Early in spring, robins build their nests(巢). They build them in trees. Robins hide the nests in trees so that they will be safe.

    The nests are made of grass, sticks, and mud. The mud makes everything together. The mother robin lays(产蛋) one egg a day for three or four days. She sits on them to keep them warm. The eggs are blue. After the babies come out, both the mother and father feed the babies. The young birds have spots on their chests.

Alice: Hi, Frank! Are you free on Saturday?

Frank: Yes.

Alice: I heard a baby panda was born in the zoo. Let's go and have a look.

Frank: Oh, I have been there twice. I think you'd better learn something about pandas before you go to the zoo.

Alice: I know a little. There are fewer than 1, 600 pandas living in the wild.

Frank: That's true. They are endangered now.

Alice: Why? Is it because they don't have babies very often?

Frank：Another main reason is that humans cut down lots of bamboo forests, and pandas don't have enough food to eat.

Alice: What a pity!

Frank: We can make some posters to tell people the importance of saving pandas.

Alice: I will take some photos of the pandas first when I visit the zoo.
