Once
upon a time, there was a king(国王) who only had one leg and
one eye. One day, the king was walking through the palace hallway and was happy
to enjoy the pictures of his ancestors. He put them there to let his children
remember all the ancestors. He found there wasn't his own picture. So he
invited many painters to paint a beautiful picture of him. Any painter who
could paint a perfect picture would get a big prize.
All
the painters thought it impossible to make the picture perfect, as the king was
disabled. And if the picture didn't look beautiful, he would get angry and punish
them. So most of the painters politely refused to paint a picture of the king.
But one painter said he would try. After a long time, the picture was ready.
The other painters all thought the king would get angry. But when the painter
showed the picture, everyone felt surprised.
In
the picture the king was sitting on a horse, on the one-leg side, holding his
bow(弓) and aiming the arrow(箭) with one eye
closed. The king was very happy to see the picture and gave the painter a
great prize. He did paint a perfect picture by hiding the king's
disabilities(缺陷).
So
remember to pay attention to the good things instead of the weaknesses in life.
