When Kong Yichan and his childhood friend Wei Wei decided to form a band in middle school, they dreamed of having their own album and tour(专辑和巡演). It didn't take long for the two boys with musical talent to realize the dream. Their first album, Life Journey, came out in 2008.Now, with nine albums, their band has become one of the most popular bands in China.
They shared their story while making their first appearance on the reality show The Big Band this summer." " We decided to attend the show because of its Chinese name Yue Dui De Xia Tian," says Kong, the lead singer of the band. "We've written many songs about summer, so we want to perform them to people."
Most of the music that we listen to every day is pop. This summer, The Big Bana brought together 31 Chinese bands, showing us different kinds of music, like rock, punk, funk, reggae and so on. It invited not only the young Chinese bands but also the old ones to take part.
One of them is The Face. Formed in 1989, the band now has five members. On the snow, they sang one of their best-known songs, Dream, which came out in 1994. The 1990s was a period that was often regarded as the golden time for Chinese rock.
"I used to be one of the youngest rock musicians on stage. Now, I'm almost 50 years old and I'm proud that I'm still with the band,"says Ou, the bass player of The Face." We have experienced a lot of changes over the years. No matter what these changes are, we are still playing the music that we love."
