Last weekend, I visited my uncle and aunt in Guilin. I went there by bus. I got to Guilin Station at 9:00 in the morning. My uncle and aunt met me there. Then we took a taxi to the Elephant Trunk Hill. We rowed a boat along the Li River. After that, we went to the Seven-star Park by double-decker bus(双层巴士). There were lots of people in the park. It was a hot day. We felt tired and hungry. We sat under a big tree and had our lunch. We had bread, orange juice, hamburgers and some bananas. We saw lots of fish in the water. So we fed (喂)the fish with bread. We were very happy that day.

A visit to Guilin

Nian is a monster. He lives in the hills. At the end of every year, he goes into the village and eats people. One day, an old man comes to the village and says, "Nian is afraid of the colour red ". Soon it is the last day of the year. Nian comes from the hills. He sees red paper on the door and windows. He also sees red firecrackers (鞭炮). He feels afraid and runs back into the hills. The people in the village never see Nian again. They use red things and let off the firecrackers at the Spring Festival every year.
