There are four season in a year. Spring begins first. Summer is after spring. Then it's fall. Winter is the last season in a year. In China, the weather is not the same in winter. In Beijing, it's very cold. It often snows. People can play with snow and they must turn on the heating machine( 暖气机). But in Hainan it's not cold. It's very warm. People there can go to swim in the sun.

     An old tiger lives in the forest. He does not want to look for food now. He often tells other animals to bring him something to eat.

     He see a monkey and says, “I am hungry, Monkey. Go to the village and bring me a fat pig.”

  “Oh, Tiger,” says the monkey. “I cannot do that now. There is another tiger over there. He also wants a fat pig. He will not let me get anything for you to eat. I am afraid of him.”

   “What?” cries the old tiger?“Show me that tiger. I will talk to him.”

    “Come with me,” says the monkey.

     The monkey and the tiger get to a bridge over the river.

   “Now look down at the river,”says the monkey.

   “Do you see the head, the white teeth and the large green eyes of a tiger?”

   “Yes, I do.” Cries the old tiger, “I will eat him up”

     With these words, the tiger jumps into the water.

     My name is Zhou Dan. I'm a Chinese girl. I'm twelve. I'm from Zhengzhou, China. Do you know Zhengzhou? It's in the middle of China. I'm in No. 8 Middle School. There are about nine hundred students and fifty teachers in our school. Ours is a good school in Zhengzhou. I'm in Class 2, Grade 1. There are 49 students in our class, 29 girls and 20 boys.    One day Tom tells his friends, “I'm going to have holidays in Beijing. But I can't speak Chinese, so I'm going to have evening classes and have Chinese lessons there for a month.” Soon his holidays come and he goes to China happily. After he comes back, his friends ask him, “Do you have any trouble with your Chinese when you are in Beijing, Tom?” “No, I don't.”answers Tom, “But the Chinese do!”

Man: How many students are there in your class?

Woman: There are forty-five.

Man: How many boys and girls are there in your class?

Woman: There are twenty-two boys and twenty-three girls.

   Fred and Jean are brother and sister. They are Americans. They are in the same school. Their school is not far from their home. Fred is in Mr. Black's class. He is thirteen. He is one of the best students in his class. Mr. Black likes him. He is good at Chinese, but Mr. Black is not. Jean is eleven. She is in Mrs. Black's class. Mrs. Black is an English teacher. Jean is good at English, but she is not good at Chinese.
