Vincent van Gogh was born on 30th March,
1853 in a little village in the south of the Netherlands. He was the eldest
child in the family and had three sisters and two brothers. His parents
realized his gift (天赋) for drawing when he
was young. Vincent decided to become a professional artist at the age of 27. He
spent the next five years in painting. And he died in the year 1890. He had
little money and lived in cheap rooms in the Netherlands. Throughout his life,
Vincent was poor, often hungry and ill. But his paintings are colourful，bola (大胆的) and passionate (热情的). Today, he is perhaps the most famous painter in the world. In
1987, his painting of Sun flowers was sold in London at a very high price. He
also left behind over 40 self-portraits (自画像)
